The document has been signed in the result of the Business Forum of the business circles of Uzbekistan and Pakistan, which was held in Tashkent.
Representatives of ministries and departments, companies and concerns of two states, responsible for economy, trade, investments, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, chemistry, food, textile industries and others participated at the event.
Among participants of the event were 20 companies from Pakistan, including Weave and Knit, Taimur Spinning, Syntex Pharma, Indus Pipe Mill Thatta Cement.
Senator Haji Ghulam Ali, President FPCCI, said that Pakistan pas great attention to cooperation with Uzbekistan. He added that Pakistan is interested in expansion of cooperation with small and private businesses.
During the forum, the Uzbek side presented information on priority direction of attracting investments into economy of Uzbekistan, privatization processes, and reforms in small and private business.
The sides considered issues of developing trade-economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, attracting Pakistani businesses to privatization process, implementation of joint projects at Navoi free industrial and economic zone.
Currently, 68 enterprises with Pakistani capital are operating in Uzbekistan, including six with 100% investments of Pakistan. Seven Pakistani companies accredited at the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade.
In nine months of 2011, the volume of bilateral trade turnover of two states made up US$5 million, of which US$1.7 million were Uzbek exports and US$3.3 million – imports.
