Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- State Committee of Uzbekistan on demonopolization and development of competition studied development of liquefied gas market.
The study revealed that in line with forecasts there should be 117 automobile gas fuelling compressor stations (AGFCS) in Uzbekistan in 2010, but currently there are 113 AGFCS in the country. At the same time, the AGFCS operate in all regions of Uzbekistan and they mainly work in regional centers.
The committee said that consumers do not have equal access to alternative fuel due to low number of AGFCS. It added that no stations were constructed in Karakalpakstan and Kashkadarya region, while construction of new stations in Bukhara, Surkhandarya and Tashkent city fell behind schedule.
Polling of consumers showed that low prices stimulate use of compressed gas despite separate negative sides of use of this alternative fuel. The price of compressed gas is lower by 2.5-3 times compared to automobile petroleum. The committee said that openness of the market and low prices allows to ensure competition in alternative fuel market.
